Office 365 Outage: Microsoft Teams Channel not Visible to Users

From yesterday, most people were unable to view recently created Microsoft Teams Channels. This issue affects all users who are all attempting to access recently created Microsoft Teams channels via Teams desktop, mobile, and web clients.

The issue is reported on April 15, 2020, at 10 PM. Microsoft has identified that this issue is due to the channel lists are not rendering correctly in the Teams clients.

Since most people working from home due to the corona outbreak, this service degradation creates a huge impact. To reduce the severity, Microsoft is running mitigation scripts for the affected teams. The fix will be released as soon as possible.

We hope this will be resolved soon and will update here of any progress.

Apr 18 Update: Microsoft has deployed the solution to a test environment for additional validation.

Apr 21 Update: Microsoft has completed the validation process and started to apply fix to the affected channels. The issue will be resolved within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Apr 22 Update: The issue has been resolved.

Resolving Technique:

Microsoft identified a potential workaround that may be a suitable option for customers. To resolve this issue, customers can edit the Name or the Description of the Teams thread containing affected channels.

Note:

Apart from this issue, admins are unable to manage Teams and Channels through the Microsoft Teams admin portal (TM209682). This issue affects the following functionalities.

  1. Teams information will be grayed out, and admins will not be able to manage Teams.
  2. Admins will not be able to use cmdlets to manage Teams.
  3. Admins would be unable to create new schedules in the “Shifts” application.

The root cause has been identified, and the fix has been deployed in the affected environment.
